Female Casino Players on a Rise in UK

Gambling as a pastime has been around since centuries. During the 15th and 16th centuries, people used to gamble on fights and races due to lack of adequate games with some playing cards and gambling on the same. The scene has changed completely presently with many land based as well as online casinos offering a variety of games, with players having loads of options as to what to play.

Earlier females used to limit their gaming to Bingo and Instant Games but the trend has changed in recent times. This was proved recently when a survey on gaming habits in the country revealed an increasing number of women players shifting to online gaming.

A survey conducted on 2052 respondents found that the numbers of women players at online casinos are on a rise. The survey revealed that 50% of male respondents preferred to play online games as compared to 49% of female respondents. About 84% of the female respondents claimed that they preferred playing online games instead of spending time on other activities such as shopping, exercising at the gym or having a bath.

The survey found that 60% of female interviewees found gaming and gambling a relaxing activity which helped them escape the stress and pressures of daily life. Another important finding of this survey was female players were not so worried about competitive aspects of the game; they rather preferred to play in bed and relax at the end of the day.

What comes as a surprise is that while British players are known to spend about three and a half hours on online games every week, women seem to be spending more time on online games as compared to males. These findings are likely to spur online casinos into introducing games and promotions keeping in mind their growing female members.
